Our experience at Songzhuju was outstanding. Here’s why:
· Superb Hospitality: The staff are the heart of this place. Ms. Tang was very welcoming from the start, and Afei provided service that went far beyond our expectations. He patiently answered all our questions before our trip and took care of every request we had. Truly exceptional! Upon arriving at Lijiang Train Station, he helped arrange a pick-up transfer to the hotel (which can be a wee bit challenging to navigate at first). He then served us with pu’er tea which explaining about the room upon check-in.
· Charming & Authentic: A beautiful, quaint villa right at the North Gates of the ancient city. It perfectly captures the traditional Lijiang atmosphere.
· Great Amenities: For a traditional stay, it has all the modern comforts you need. We were so grateful to have a washing machine and dryer downstairs– a huge plus!
We felt genuinely cared for! Thank you for a wonderful stay!"

"One of My Best Stay Experiences—Authentic & Unforgettable
This was one of my most memorable hotel stays, and I’ve stayed at many top-tier, five-star hotels around the world. While this may not be the most luxurious in terms of facilities, it more than makes up for it with its genuine charm and warmth. The owner was incredibly friendly, making us feel like we were staying at a friend’s home rather than a hotel. This welcoming vibe perfectly complements the enchanting atmosphere of this beautiful ancient city.
The views were absolutely breathtaking, especially from our top-floor room. The owner went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience, offering a spectacular panorama of the old town and surrounding mountains. The location is ideal—perched on a small hill, it provides an elevated vantage point for those stunning views, though the short uphill walk may be a slight effort due to the altitude. But trust me, it’s worth it.
If you’re visiting Lijiang to immerse yourself in its relaxed beauty and rich culture, there’s no better place to stay. I originally booked for three nights but quickly realized I’d need more time—next visit, I’m planning a full week to truly unwind and soak it all in. This isn’t a place to rush; it’s a place to slow down, savor the moment, and let the magic of Lijiang embrace you.

"The weather in Lijiang is absolutely perfect; I never wanted to leave! It was so pleasant chatting with the owner, and I really admired their carefree and natural way of life. Lijiang is definitely a place I'll return to. Mitu Inn is newly renovated with excellent facilities. Unlike other places where the hot water was inconsistent (either too hot or too cold), Mitu Inn has constant hot water, which is a fantastic feature. Enjoying tea and conversation there was simply wonderful."

"It was my first time staying at this hotel. The overall experience was very good. The two guys at the front desk were very enthusiastic. Seeing that we were traveling with our family, they upgraded our room for free. The courtyard was very comfortable. I recommend it. "I booked this last-minute during the National Day holiday, and it was a huge surprise when I arrived! The room was spacious, simply decorated, and very stylish. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, especially the memory foam pillow – a godsend for someone like me with neck issues. From the tatami, you could see the sunlit Golden Mountain. I stayed for four nights, and the afternoon tea had slight variations each day. The common areas were also very comfortable, and breakfast involved slurping rice noodles while gazing at the snow-capped mountains!
The butler staff, both male and female, were all very friendly and polite. Communication via WeChat was super prompt; they answered every question. There was a particular young lady from Guangzhou who was fantastic – she was my daily weather report before heading out, and she had all the info on the guesthouse's surroundings, attractions, and even various coffee shops! On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, there was even a complimentary mooncake and fruit display, so you could enjoy moon-gazing and snacking at your leisure!
The guesthouse is right by Qingxi Lake, making for a very chill morning stroll. It's quiet at night too, perfect for a truly immersive escape. I will definitely be back!"

"Great stay. Had a tea appreciation that came with the stay. Kids loved to play with the dogs and a pig. Owner just bought two Giant Alaskan Malamute puppies and they are supper cute!
Entrance to bathroom has no door. Wish we had a cloth-curtain and some suction hooks.
Family room is big. Has humidifier, fridge and bathtub.
Hotel is conveniently near Zhong Yi market and Mu Fu. Also near two Lijiang wash pools outside for washing vegetables bought from the market.
Do try the Dali yogurt from a nearby convenience store."

"I was in for a surprise when I realized this hotel was located in the mountain. There is a pick-up/drop-off point at the top of the hill. It takes about 3-5 minutes walk down to the hotel. The hotel manager helped us with the luggage during check-in/out.
To get to the ancient town, it’s about 10 minutes walk down. Along the way you will pass by other beautiful sceneries before arriving at a side street of the bar street in the ancient town.
The rooms are a bit run down due to humidity, but it’s very spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a Very serene vibe. Very relaxing.
I’m happy we stayed at this hotel, and would recommend fellow travelers (who don’t mind to hike a little) to stay here too!"

"This guesthouse is incredibly warm and inviting, I highly recommend it! The handsome and beautiful concierges at the hotel were all incredibly dedicated. They introduced us to the local ancient towns and gave us tips on what to see and do. On top of that, they even upgraded our room so we could enjoy the beautiful 'Rizhao Jinshan' (golden mountain bathed in sunlight) right from our window! If you have pets, you absolutely must come to this guesthouse. Their little darlings are so welcoming and friendly! Their afternoon tea, butter tea experience, and breakfast were all fantastic! 👍🏼"

As a seasoned traveler, I've always believed that the hotel is the destination, so whenever I travel, I carefully choose a hotel with the best value. When I visited Lijiang, I deliberately avoided branded hotels because their overly standardized design and service didn't allow me to truly experience the warmth of Lijiang. I chose the Mixue Select Hotel because it's a brand new hotel built in 2025, far from the hustle and bustle and commercialization of places like Lijiang Old Town. Upon arrival, my expectations were truly met.
First, the hotel room showcased cutting-edge AI technology. Tmall Genie controlled all the room's electrical appliances.
The room was spacious and uniquely decorated, with comfortable bedding and a tranquil environment. Most captivating was the view of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from afar. On a clear day, the blue sky and white clouds were breathtakingly beautiful. On a rainy day, the hazy beauty was poignant, inviting me to indulge in my imagination.
Finally, what truly captivated me was the warm and humanistic service. The Naxi staff's sincerity was fully expressed in every smile and greeting. Miss Cheng Cheng from Chongqing is versatile, enthusiastic and meticulous. She also introduced the tea culture to us while making tea.

PpostcardsandstampsWe enjoyed our stay here, so when we returned from Shangri-la to Lijiang, we made a repeat booking at this place. The cleanliness of the place and the friendliness of the staff were the main reasons for our return.
Location: This place is situated near the border of the Lijiang Ancient City. It is close to the main road (2 min walk) which makes it easy to meet your driver for airport transfer or any tour you join. It is also extremely convenient to get to the main attractions such as Mu Residence (5 min) and Zhongyi Night Market (6-8 min). You will be away from the hustle and bustle at night, and get some peace and quiet.
Room: We were lucky that we got a room on the ground floor, as we had very heavy luggage. It would be very difficult to pull them up the stairs if we were on the upper floor. Every room has a different name, and shows that the owners put some thought into giving each of their guests a unique experience. The room we got was of moderate size, with a small sofa area for you to enjoy tea and snacks. There was also a kettle and four cups, and a 5-litre water dispenser that dispensed hot and cold water - I appreciated this, which was more environmentally friendly and generous than other accommodation which gave us 2 bottles of water (500ml each) each every day. The room was also equipped with heating, for the room and the floor, and they were controlled by the front desk. There was also a humidifier. The room's interior decoration was warm and cozy.
Outdoor: We also enjoyed sitting outdoors, idling, gazing at the fish, watching the flowers bloom, while enjoying many cups of tea.
Toilet: It was of decent size, with a shower cubicle that dispensed hot water pretty quickly. They provided us with everything so there's nothing you need to bring: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, slippers for shower, towels for body and hair, one-time face towels, hair dryer, body lotion, soap, detergent.
Service: The staff was hospitable, friendly, and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed chatting with them over many cups of tea, and rose pastries. They even recommended travel routes and restaurants to us, which were very good, and we even got discounts or freebies by telling the restaurants where we were staying. It was easy to communicate with the staff on WeChat, they responded promptly, and arranged free airport transfer for us as we stayed more than three nights.
Food: Breakfast was served every morning, which included a bowl of Yunnan mixian (noodles), a steamed bun, a hard-boiled egg, corn, and some spicy preserved vegetables. Every booking came with one serving of afternoon tea, which included rose pastries and a variety of fruits. We arrived after midnight and the staff prepared some rose pastries and fruit for us, in case we would be hungry, which was very thoughtful of them!

GGuest UserThis guesthouse we stayed at in Lijiang Old Town truly is a hidden gem! Tucked away in a small alley opposite the Mu's Residence gate, it escapes the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Stepping inside feels like entering another world. The courtyard boasts a high-end and elegant design, and from the second-floor terrace, you can enjoy views of distant rooftops and the Old Town's nightscape. Sitting on a rocking chair at night, listening to the chirping of insects while sipping tea, was simply blissful.
The owner was incredibly thoughtful; he not only arranged for our luggage to be picked up at the Old Town entrance beforehand but also recommended authentic local eateries known only by residents. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bedding super plush, and even the toiletries were from a niche brand with a subtle tea fragrance. This peaceful oasis amidst the lively area was exactly what I was looking for – just a few minutes' walk from Sifang Street, yet offering a unique sense of serenity. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Lijiang who wants to truly experience the slow-paced life of the Old Town. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit!

The accommodation is in an excellent location. It is also home to one of the most beautiful-view cafés in Lijiang. The surrounding area is filled with restaurants and shopping spots, providing great convenience. Despite its central location, the rooms are quiet, ensuring a peaceful stay.
They respond to messages very quickly, and you can communicate any requests during your stay in Lijiang. They provide free pick-up and drop-off service at the high-speed railway station. Additionally, they assist with handling all your luggage from check-in to check-out, which is especially helpful since Lijiang’s stone-paved streets make rolling suitcases inconvenient. They also arrange airport transfers and a one-day tour to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, including a show, at a reasonable price. The vehicles used for transportation are of high quality.
Especially Xiao Su and Xiao Yang, who provided us with professional service and excellent arrangements, making our vacation in Lijiang absolutely perfect. We received service beyond our expectations in every aspect. The internet connection was highly efficient, allowing my husband to work seamlessly while staying here.
On the day we checked out, we had the opportunity to take a photo with Xiao Su. She and her team warmly saw us off to our car, making our departure just as memorable as our stay.

Secondly, the hotel's service was impeccable. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the front desk staff were professional and welcoming. Check-in was quick and efficient, and they even proactively offered a lot of useful local information and tips for our stay. During our time there, room service was prompt, and the housekeeping staff cleaned our room spotlessly every day, keeping everything neatly arranged. It made us feel incredibly comfortable and secure.
Furthermore, the room's facilities and hygiene were flawless. The room was spacious and bright, with a modern, minimalist yet cozy decor. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring excellent sleep quality. The bathroom was clean and tidy, fully stocked with all the necessary toiletries, and had a stable and abundant hot water supply. All the in-room amenities like the air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi worked perfectly and were easy to use.

AAndreawang7This trip to Lijiang was truly highlighted by the Lijiang Shitoucuo Snow Mountain Resort! From the thoughtful reminders in the exclusive service chat group when I booked, to the warm smile of the butler taking my luggage when I got out of the car, I felt perfectly cared for throughout, and my happiness level was through the roof.
The most delightful surprise was the hotel's optional horseback riding activity, an absolute hidden gem at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. The Naxi horseman was incredibly professional; he not only explained riding precautions beforehand but also shared fascinating legends of the snow mountain and Naxi culture during the ride. He guided us through alpine meadows, bringing us up close to the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. I felt completely safe the entire time, and it was an amazing way to discover a unique, off-the-beaten-path experience without needing to plan anything myself – far more reliable than finding a stable on my own.
The accommodation experience was equally impeccable. My room overlooked a vast lawn, and the original stone wall texture exuded a sense of rustic luxury. Every detail showed careful thought: freshly brewed milk tea that could be refilled anytime, crispy potato chips and delicious yak jerky during afternoon tea – every shot was picture-perfect. In the evening, the bonfire party brought staff and guests together to dance, sing, and share stories, instantly bridging any initial unfamiliarity.
Shitoucuo's service is never just superficial politeness. Here, you can truly experience the warmth of Naxi culture while enjoying the comfort of a high-end resort. The romantic experience of horseback riding with views of the snow-capped mountains is unforgettable. This is definitely a divine hotel I'll be revisiting!

SSheryl 宜芬Cleanliness: room was slightly dusty. Spiders and insects in the room, but expected because it has many oriental decorations that require constant cleaning to prevent dust accummulation.
Location: convenient, it’s of walking distance to the north gate, easy to stroll around to different parts of the ancient town.
Service: I have never given a bad review for the service attitude of any accomodations which I’ve stayed at in China, but I honestly think that the service here is mediocre and more reactive than proactive. They fulfil the basics of bringing your luggage up to your room, giving directions to the laundry and breakfast areas and arranging for pick up from the station to the hotel for a stay of at least three consecutive nights. I cannot speak for all the service staff, but the service staff that mainly tended to me during the stay definitely needs to be improved. He was helpful when I needed help for the laundry setting. However, when I needed help with booking tickets to snow mountain (I’m a foreigner and do not have a local number), it was a rather frustrating experience. He shared that the booking of tickets to Yulong Snow Mountain can be done 3-4 days in advance, and he could help me when I arrive at the accommodations. When I arrived, it was 4 days in advance but he was rather nonchalent and did not manage to help me secure tickets for my intended date of visit and had to eventually rely on the tour group to help change dates. The night before the tour visit, I had to reach out on wechat to ask about when and where the meeting point is for the tour. Even after the tour, I even had to ask several times to pay for the tour tickets as he had helped me to secure the ticket to the glacier park cablecar eventually. I had already shared that I could not transfer money on wechat and could only do via scanning his wechat/alipay qr code or vice versa. I feel that given that you guys are located in Lijiang and located near to Jade Snow Mountain, you should have encountered other customers who need help with the booking and this shouldn’t have been such a stressful tour booking experience.
Amenities: they have two all-in-1 washing machine and drying amenities which was rather helpful. In the original room which i had booked, the air con leaked at around 10pm+. I texted the service staff on wechat and another staff came 5-10minutes later to check. This staff said it’s normal for the air con to leak at times especially if it’s blocked. After checking, he offered to change rooms for me. He helped me to move my luggage to the new room. There was no form of apology by any of the staff on the day itself when the incident happened. It was only on the next day when I requested for check-out transportation services to the railway station for the following day, where the staff who mainly tended to be apologised for the aircon leakage and offered complimentary transport services to the railway station.
I’ve stayed in many accomodations in Yunnan but this was the most disappointing stay thus far and I will definitely not be back again.

Hotel staff pick you up by car right at the ancient town entrance and help with your luggage. And you'll love the hotel's two incredibly cute Alaskan Malamute 'senior staff members' – they might just sleep all day, but they are super friendly and love a good cuddle!
The rooms are spotless, boasting smart toilets and even earplugs. The amenities are definitely top-tier for the ancient town, ensuring maximum comfort during your stay!
Conveniently located right in the heart of Shuhe Ancient Town, most attractions are easily walkable! (And don't worry about lugging your bags; the hotel staff's tricycles are always on call to give you a lift).

Their responses to messages were instant. When we casually mentioned needing a dressing table for makeup, they surprised us with a free room upgrade! On my birthday, they even gifted me a flower. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily. Overall, the experience was truly exceptional. The location is fantastic, being close to all the main attractions, and having plenty of food options right downstairs was incredibly convenient. I also really appreciated the bathroom's dry and wet separation.

GGuest UserThis is a difficult one because the staff and the location of the hotel are absolutely fantastic. Lolo, the reception dog, made our stay so much entertainining, and the guys checking us in (and working around the hotel) have always been super helpful and kind.
When we did signal issues with our rooms, we always had these fixed almost instantaneously, but there were also issues out of their control that dampened our experience. Most critically, the mattresses are way too thin so most nights we struggled to find a comfy way to sleep, the walls are also too thin and you can hear every single thing going on around you, and the rooms are cold (no amount of keeping the radiator on fixed it). The rooms could be slightly cleaner too, as under our bed it looked like no one cleaned for a while.
Nonetheless, it was an overall good experience, made significantly better by the location and hosts. Thanks for hosting us.
